1. Who We Are

Voicebox (the "App") is operated by McRitchie Studio LLC (doing business as McRitchie Studio) ("we", "us"). It is a family tool: a member taps a button, says an idea out loud, and the App turns it into a written video prompt.

2. Information We Collect

Your account: The App has no passwords. You sign in with a single-use link sent to your email address, or by continuing as the account you are signed in to on mcritchie.studio. Your account holds your email address, your name if you give it, and your account role.

Your recordings: When you record, your browser sends us the sound. We keep the sound only until it has been turned into text, normally a few seconds, and then delete it. We keep the text of what you said (the transcript), the video prompt made from it, and when you recorded.

When something breaks: If the App hits an error, it saves a technical record of it, which can refer to the recording involved.

3. Who Receives It

Only the companies that do part of the App's work, and only what that work needs:

  • OpenAI receives the sound of each recording, to turn it into text.
  • Anthropic receives the text of what you said, to write the video prompt.
  • Slack receives your name, the text of what you said and the video prompt, posted to the family's own Slack channel.
  • Heroku hosts the App and its database; Resend delivers sign-in email; Cloudflare answers for the App's domain name.

We do not sell or rent your information, and we send no marketing email. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

4. Children

A child may use the App only on an account a parent or guardian has turned on for them, and with that grown-up's permission. Recording is off for every account until a grown-up turns it on. A parent or guardian can ask us at any time to see or delete what their child has recorded.

5. Cookies and Browser Storage

The App sets one session cookie, which keeps you signed in and protects its forms. It sets none for advertising or analytics. Your browser keeps your light or dark theme choice to itself. The App asks to use your microphone only when you tap the record button.

6. How Long We Keep It

Sound: deleted as soon as it is transcribed. Transcripts and prompts: for as long as the account exists, or until you ask us to delete them. Messages already posted to Slack stay in that Slack workspace under its own settings.

7. Your Choices and Contact

You may ask us what we hold about you or your child, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it and close the account. Reach us through mcritchie.studio; we will confirm the request by writing to the account's email address before we act.

We may update this policy; the date at the top shows the last change. See also our Terms of Service.
